Stephens H.S. 1961 Classmates -

GREETINGS FROM ALLEN KENT,

PO Box 806, Lafayette, CA 94549

Nice to chat with you Nancy. I feel so sad to miss this reunion...though until Dave Hanscom said something about my 40th (!) it had completely escaped me. Someone please sign me up for the committee for the next one! I am so pleased to hear that 90 of us are attending, and I wish you all a memory-filled and joyous day. How I envy you!

Susan and I (she's my long-term girlfriend) will arrive on Aug 20 for 10 days around Rumford and over at Camp in Weld. We would love to hear from any of you that will be nearby... either call Fred Kent 364-4727 or Richard 364-2953 and leave a phone number.

So to catch you up with the Kent goings-on.

I feel so fortunate to have four children (none married; no grandchildren) whom all live nearby except my step-daughter Jeanine (UCSC), a delightful California girl who has moved East to NYC: Allen Jr (RISD) a computer graphics geek in Berkeley will be 33 in the Fall; Marion (Denison) a Licensed Acupuncturist/Chinese Herbal Med practitioner and laser technician for our www.healthstarlaser.com... she'll be 30 on Aug 11; she lives a 10 minute walk from me. Julia is sweet 16 a Junior and interested in theater (Sang in Bye Bye Birdie h.s. production this year), got her first car! and helps me in the office (home) a lot. What else can you say about a teenager!

I married my college sweetheart right out of college took a bank training job in NYC and then during "our war" flew for the Navy; moved through 10 states during that time, and after the Navy we moved to Lafayette, CA near S.F.; then in '72 took a job flying a Learjet in Wisconsin, a story in itself, which all ended me back again in Lafayette, CA in the hospital equipment and finance business....since then I've moved over to the clinical side as you can see from the Web site. I also developed www.WebScheduler.net I am so lucky because I really love my work. (I believe one should: "Always be happy; never be idle, and cry for what you want!")

As always I have my oar into lots of different things. The pictures at the top are from a musical I sang in, with a San Francisco amateur group. I've directed a number of plays and very much enjoy theater. We have visited the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland most years since 1973 for plays and a good country 4th of July parade! I got my start in music not from Helena Brennick with whom I reluctantly studied piano, and...what was her name? not from Mrs. Murphy the wonderful Stephens High singing teacher. (remember singing "White Christmas"...she was simply amazing on the piano)... But from Irene Perry my 3rd grade teacher at Bisbee where Klaus Schmidt and I were sopranos!

I stayed in touch with Tommy Ferguson and had played golf with him at Quantico, VA just before he shipped out to VietNam. He was a devoted Marine officer and a good man. I was still in flight training in Texas when I heard of his death. I've played golf several times with Bill Ferguson who lives out here near San Jose.

My memories of good times with you people are so powerful. I just feel lucky to have them. Please share some of your reflections on this reunion with me.

Have a wonderful day.

Fondly,

Allen
